Author Interview:
First off let start off by saying how much I love your books. I am a huge fan and so excited I am getting to interview you today. Welcome to Doctor’s Notes.
Thanks so much for having me back on your blog!

Can you describe your writing process? Anyplace special you like to write at or any special music you listen to?
I can write anywhere. I have to be able to, being a busy mom. I write at home, waiting outside my daughter’s dance practices, and even in the car at times (though not while driving. J ). My favorite place and time is at home, late at night. I prefer it to be quiet, but can write even when surrounded by screaming kids.
What inspired you to become a writer?
I didn’t write my first book wanting or thinking of being a writer. I merely wrote it down for my younger daughter. It’s when I came to the end of it and felt the need to continue telling Arizona’s story that I considered becoming a writer.
 Describe your writing style?
I write what I visualize in my imagination, so I am practically writing a movie script. In my early books, there was a lot of character hopping, and it’s because that’s how the story appears to me. I hop in and out of time lines and expect my readers to keep up with my imagination and multiple storylines. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
What character of all of your characters do you love the most?
I absolutely adore writing Cordelia. It’s a treat to be able to explore the world through her uninhibited world.

What is the best compliment you have received as a writer?
It’s hard to pick just one,  I treasure all compliments I receive. The most precious to me is a card my younger daughter drew for me of an iPad with the words “ Reviews—I think that this is the best a mom could have ever written. (:D)”

What are you reading right now and do you have a favorite genre?
I have finally gotten around to reading Matched, which I am really enjoying. I am a huge fan of everything YA/paranormal, be it books, movies, or television shows.

What do you want to tell your readers?
A big thank you! I am grateful to be given a chance to share my imagination with you.
What can we look forward to from you next?
I am currently writing Fusion, which is the fifth book of the Portal Chronicles. After that, I intend to start working on the sequel to Faustine.

If you could have superpowers what would they be?
I’d love to be able to time travel… invisibly some of the time. J

My Review:

Imogen Rose has done it again. I have never been so engrossed in a series as I am when it comes to this series. I love everything about it and am always left wanting more. The writing is just amazing and she gets you so invested in the characters that you don't want to leave this amazing world. We start this book off by entering back into the awesome world that is Bonfire Academy. We are greeted again by Cordelia who is now actually a faculty member at the Academy and working as an apprentice for Professor Bern. She also gets to help continue to mentor Faustine. Once again I am amazed by just how powerful and cool Cordelia is. She is truly a force to be reckoned with. She is brave, strong and compassionate. The relationship she has with Faustine is so real and like a real big sister little sister relationship.

Cordelia and Faustine unfortunately have to deal with the fact that someone is trying to hurt the demon princesses. They start receiving haiku's that spell out danger. I loved the fact that the haiku's were so brillantly written and fit in so well with the story. They added the right about of mystery. Cordelia also has to come to grips about her syncing with Jagger and has to let go of Mason. I have to say my heart broke along with Quinn's when she broke up with him even though her and Jagger are meant to be. Cordelia finds that after that breakup things get really interesting and she suddenly has a lot going on. The biggest issue is trying to find out who is after the girls.

Faustine has really grown up and it was great seeing her going through her integration program to try to control her powers. She has a major slip up through that leads to some unforeseen events. The results of this action lead to Faustine really having to learn how to control herself. I loved seeing how much Faustine's dad truly cared for her and his ability to drop everything to help her out. It was such a loving relationship that they shared and great to see it play out throughout the story.

Overall Imogen Rose has created another amazing installment of the Bonfire Academy Series. I loved seeing all the characters back and all their interactions. It was great seeing them all grow up and come into their own. This series had the right mix of suspense and ramped up action along with romances. The writing flowed so well together and the plot was on point. I loved having another great glimpse into the Bonfire world. I have to say that I think Imogen Rose may have out done herself with this one. I can't wait to read the next book as we were left with the cliffhanger ending. Oh Imogen why do you torture us so? It's ok as I know the next book will make up for it. I highly recommend this book to others.

Teaser Excerpt:

Broken. I couldn’t think of a better word to describe it. I felt as if I’d been torn to bits, maybe even shredded. I was suffocating, surrounded by a wet tightness of skin and flesh all crusted together. My body was home to excruciating stabs of pain searing about randomly before a final thrust of sheer agony. I couldn’t tell if the source of the pain was within me or if I was being repeatedly sliced open with a knife. Did it matter? I felt as though it was only a matter of seconds before my thoughts would end.

“Cordelia!”

My name. I flinched as the same voice repeated my name again and again. Why? Who was it? It—he—sounded familiar. I heaved as the voice triggered the memory of his face. Then, not being able to stop the bile from traveling up my throat, I gagged and purged, emptying my stomach completely. The next time he muttered my name, his voice was laced with disgust. But his revulsion couldn’t compete with my utter repugnance and disbelief at what he’d done. Him. Someone I had trusted with my life, even though the rule was clear:

Trust No One.
