Blurb:

Come and find me two years ago ... Six words that have thrown the ice hockey playing tomboy Arizona in an alternate dimension. Suddenly, she lives the life of an idolized cheerleader. She is from the happy life with her father pulled and pushed into a new, unknown life with her mother hated. All they know as Arizona Darley, but she is not. She is Arizona Stevens. While she tries to find answers for them are fixed only two things: that her mother Olivia is responsible for everything somehow - and that she needs to reclaim her old life. Until she meets Kellan ...

Content:

A moment ago, she was still in her father's car, they found in the car of her mother, Olivia again - kilometers away from their previous location! As Arizona then finds out that she ended up in the past and it is not Arizona Stevens, but Darley is their world is upside down. All seem the cheerleader Arizona Darley know. But they do not even know each other - they only knows the Arizona Stevens, who plays hockey and never become life cheerleader would. For Arizona is certain: you must get to the bottom of the mystery!

The first sentence:

Olivia looked up at the sky and saw a shooting star.

Emotions:

A confusing beginning that later turns out to be important, and a thrilling finish that makes you want more.

Construction, writing style and perspectives:

The book is divided into a prologue, 24 chapters divided with a good length and an epilogue.
The writing style of the author can be read fluently and makes a good through history.
"Portal" is told from two perspectives: from the perspective of the Arizona teenager in the I-form and from the perspective of Arizona's mother Olivia in the personal narrative. With Olivia it sometimes happens that she reports on past events, which are then engaged to illustrate the difference in time.

My opinion:

"Portal" is one of the few books in which I approached without prejudice. Therefore, it could not disappoint me surprise you - but convincing!
The beginning was a little bit confusing. I have the majority of the book about not understand what the prologue is there. Eventually, I got it figured out and then finally realized that this scene is essential. But I was not nearly as confused. At some point, I had completely forgotten the prologue and the story I was able to turn right.
That was also the moment when the tension for me was first felt. It increased during the course of the book and on, until at the end of the book I could not put it down.
Arizona was immediately appealing to me, even if I have their "dream" theory has never really understood. She feels in her own body completely foreign, as it would a stranger inhabits her previous life that is so completely different than themselves
Here we come to another interesting aspect of "Portal": The two in one protagonist. Surely you know these characters inside the inside, have another, exactly the same figure? Arizona is also an outer "shell" that is hidden inside it, another person who is in their case completely different and yet like her. This makes it particularly interesting for the reader to explore Arizona's person, because they themselves do not even know everything by yourself. She is learning a completely different side of himself in the book know.
The other protagonists were me, all very friendly. When one or the other one was, of course, by Arizona's personal opinion somewhat biased, but that was all.

My conclusion:

Efforts to deal with "portal" definitely not be put off by the somewhat confusing beginning. Because if you have to read once, the story gets better and more exciting, until finally the book can not put it down. The 2 in 1 protagonist idea I found great. I can recommend to you the book really, because, even if at first glance may not seem so, the story is really good. I will definitely read the sequel yet!

My Rating:

My picture in your mind:

When I first entered the site, I had no idea how much it would really change my life. The light flashed around me, bright and aching in the eyes. White was replaced by light blue. Now and then flashed a light pink stripes. And then all of a sudden absolute, everything verschluckendes Nothing. Meanwhile, I knew what that meant this blackness: The journey through the portal was almost finished. But the first time I had the heart for a moment stand. I thought it was something went wrong - what with such a project was not entirely improbable. But when I then suddenly took on a lush green lawn, the fear fell away from me and the pride spread through my chest. At last! I had finally done it!
